“Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.”
Sieara and Addison’s engagement session was so much fun but didn’t go as expected. Early in the morning, we arrived high atop the blue ridge mountains and a place called Craggy Gardens. The drive up the mountain was gorgeous, but about a mile out from the location fog set in so heavy, it was hard to see the road.
We went ahead and hiked up to the top and that is where the fun began. We stood there and talked, joked, and laughed as we waiting for the thick veil of white to fad away to reveal the gorgeous views! It seemed like we were kids waiting on Christmas to catch a glimpse of Santa, except instead of Santa we were waiting for a glimpse of the breathtaking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Being based in this area, I know how crazy our weather can be and how the mountains create their own weather most times. We waited for a while but decided to cut our losses since there was no sign of it clearing anytime soon. This adventure was not all in vain. We did get some beautiful photos on the trail as we went back down and even got some pretty mountain views as we came out below the thick clouds.
I felt horrible that Sieara & Addison never got those epic mountain shots they were dreaming of, but we ended up creating some fun memories we all will never forget.
